Kitsune Modelling & Rigging, Challenging!

By | 3D Modelling, Deakin | No Comments

Yass! So this is what I did for my 3D Character & Rigging unit at Deakin. I’ve decided to make this Kitsune model. Though he looks like normal fox, I put a tiny bit Japanese stuff to it, in order to accentuate this Kitsune term. So, I’ve got to say that this is not 100% completed yet, in terms of texture or displacement map or fur maybe.. But, at this stage, this model would be enough for rig and animation. Figure above…

Another Attempt for Animal Modelling (Biped)

By | Deakin | No Comments

Kitsune – a Japanese word for fox and it is one of Japanese folklore that most people had already known or heard before. I’ve got another assignment for character modelling this trimester and I thought that I’m going to make another animal who stands on its two feet. This time, I have decided to re-create a Kitsune in 3D world. At the moment, I’ve only got the concept art and 9 facial expressions of Kitsune. With the overall concept of…

First Experience with RenderMan

By | Deakin | No Comments

Hello! Finally, I’ve got time to write down something in my blog. After I graduated from AIE, I haven’t really got time to post up anything in this blog because I went back to my home country and had a really good time there spending time with my family. And after a while, I really do miss Maya! I miss spending my time intensively in front of my PC or spending 3 full days in AIE with my team in order to…

Realistic Hand Sculpting

By | Academy of Interactive Ent., Sculpting | No Comments

Today, I learned how to do a realistic hand sculpt in order to understand more about human anatomy and proportion. I tried to set up the proportion right in Maya and understood more now about all the naming of each part of our hand and even the sizing of them. This is when I bring the hand base into zBrush and dynamesh it. I received a couple of feedbacks from Heath. The proportion of the finger is…

Exterior Environment Look Dev

This is the first intro shot that I've been working on lately. A tile-textured brickwall and the tree's shadow falls on the pavement. I'm using aiPhysicalSky light for overall light in this scene. “ It will be good if the shadows hit the brickwall as well, not fully on the ground. The shadow around the bin looks like covering up the shape of the bin. The light should be angled correctly. And it will be nice to see a hint...

How to use a Displacement Map in Maya Texture Node

By | Academy of Interactive Ent. | No Comments

Today, I learned how to put a displacement map in the texture node. I’m currently modelling a character within zBrush and Maya. In order to cut down render time (by not doing a high-poly rendering), I exported a displacement map from my high poly model in Mudbox. First attempt of assigning displacement map in Maya.   These are the attributes that I need to change when applying a displacement map.   Diffuse Map : 8-bit / TGA format Displacement Map…

Script and Storyboard

By | Academy of Interactive Ent. | No Comments
I  had to seek for inspiration when I was making this assignment. I love a story where you can find a meaning behind it. That's why I made up this story about a little girl who grew up hiding behind a "smiling" mask who realises that she is not that much different from other people and decides to show who she is behind the mask.   Synopsis   Bonny is a little girl who gets bullied everyday by her neighbour...

Digital Animation Research

By | Academy of Interactive Ent. | No Comments
Hey it's me again! I don't have any WIP artwork that I can post because I've just finished my research assignment and I got assessed today. Glad that everything worked fine. I didn't expect that I would pass this assessment, since well I'm a little bit struggling doing written assignment in English but I guess I pulled it off right. (long exhale...) What I've researched during this past few weeks was the history of how the look development has changed from...
